7.30pm: Blaenavon Male Voice Choir with Bethan Nia - Celtic harpist and singer at St. Cadoc's Church (£6 and concessions £5). Tickets available from Caerleon Tourist Information Centre (see above) and the Church door.

    Choir

Blaenavon Male Voice Choir will be appearing with Bethan Nia at St Cadoc’s Church. The Choir was officially formed in 1910, however there is evidence to show that men gathered in Blaenavon to sing in harmony as far back as 1873. There are now over 60 members drawn from many parts of Blaenavon, Torfaen and the surrounding area.

The Choir are very fortunate to have the services of an excellent musical team led by the extremely talented Musical Director Mr. Gareth Whitcombe MA, who is supported by a very accomplished pianist Paul Cook and ably assisted with Deputy Conductors Mr. Ossie Arnold and Mr. Malcolm Broom taking over when required. The Choir has had successful tours to Cork, Norway, Hungary, France the USA and Canada and in 2007 traveled to Spain. These tours combined with concerts in the UK make it very busy - but we’re happy to welcome them back to Caerleon.

    Bethan Nia

Bethan Nia, the Celtic harpist and singer, won the prestigious Danny Kyle award at the Celtic Connections festival in 2008 – the only Welsh artist ever to have won.  Singing in Welsh and English, blending the ancient and modern, her songs build bridges of emotion to the hidden heart of Wales.  Bethan has performed at the opening ceremonies of the International Eisteddfod Llangollen and the Interceltique festival Lorient.  She also introduced audiences to Welsh traditional music at Glastonbury festival and her music has been played on S4C and BBC Radio Wales.

“A voice to die for” -  Taplas

7.30pm Dynamo's Rhythym Aces at the Goldcroft Inn. Fresh from Glastonbury Festival 2009 - contemporary classics in a swing style (£3), Barbeque available at an extra charge. Tickets also available from The Goldcroft Inn.

According to their website: "The Dynamo's Rhythm Aces’ particular brand of deja voodoo spin is not only sublimely refreshing, but their neon cocktail of vision and sound hands over its visa at the borders of genius. This sharp suited super slick trio take modern and contemporary hits, from Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Relax to Motorhead’s Ace of Spades via The Spice Girls, The Smiths and Ian Dury, and serve them up skillet hot - in 40s/50s western swing and boogie-woogie style. Visually entertaining, musically stunning these scintillating 40's swingsters somehow put the boogaloo into Beastie Boys, the Charleston into T-Rex and the swing into the Sex Pistols! They provide a fantastic stage show with a real swinging sound".

Absolute Zero Viola Quartet Absolute zero viola quartet

The Absolute Zero Quartet has been running (well, maybe slowly jogging) since 1995, playing many recitals in and around South Wales, with the odd visit to London, and is made up of players from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Here are four very different players, on four very different instruments, with four very distinctive styles of playing, but unified by their feeling for the music, their shared expression, and their communion with each other, and their passion for the viola, that goes some way towards demonstrating the extraordinary versatility and wealth of expression of this beautiful, mysterious, Cinderella of the string family.
