We regret to report the sudden death of David Hewitt. He was a Chartered Mechanical Engineer who worked in the chemical industry until 1984 but then made pottery his main occupation.

David was a member of South Wales Potters and an Associate of the Craft Potters Association. Glaze technology fitted in naturally with his past industrial experience and this led to the development of software for glaze calculations.

In conjunction with Mike Bailey of Bath Potters' Supplies he wrote numerous articles on glazes and glaze testing for Ceramic Review.

Items have been bought by Newport Museum, Bristol Museum and the Museum of East Asian Arts at Bath. His work has been available for sale in a number of local galleries.
