David
is a ceramicist who was introduced to pottery by Frank Hamer while at
Monmouthshire Training College in Caerleon between 1959 and 1961.
He
taught pottery to children and adults over many years in Jersey and Guernsey
(his home island) while developing his own skills and knowledge of ceramics.
Since retiring from teaching in 1996 he has developed his own studio,
specialising in smoke-firing and stoneware.
His smoke-fired work brings together the natural elements of earth and
fire, while plants and stones on the beach influence pattern, form and
colour. His stoneware draws inspiration from local scenery and sunsets
seen from his house.
David's
work has been exhibited frequently and is on sale in Guernsey Museum and
Art Gallery and elsewhere.
