THE PARTY’S OVER – FOR NOW!

THE 16th CAERLEON FESTIVAL 2018.

The annual ten day Summer Festival was, as always, wide in scope and big on ambition. It began on a hot summer’s evening with Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale” in the amphitheatre and ended with the weekend of THE BIG FREE. There was music, arts/crafts/ entertainment extravaganza on both banks of the river in blazing sunshine.

In between – authors, poets, comedy, architecture, big band on the Priory Lawn; choir in St Cadoc’s church; bands at the Bell, St. Julian’s Inn, the White Hart and the Rugby Club; – all in perfect summer weather.

It was highly successful – the result of hard work over a long time by a dedicated team and had the full support of the Community.

Goodwill is the key to success. I wish to thank our partners, sponsors, hosts, artists, authors, entertainers, exhibitors, volunteers – too many to mention – who have all demonstrated goodwill in abundance and, of course, the Community of Caerleon.

The Caerleon Festival – a celebration by the Community for the Community.

There will be events throughout the year including “Caerleon Remembers” the Armistice ending the Great War – 10th November 2018.

Also follow our progress in creating “The Gateway Meadow” – from wasteland to wild flower meadow.
