All Wales Comic Verse Competition 2017
Disappointingly after five laughter filled years the All Wales Comic Verse Competition is taking 2017 off. In much the same way that a London Olympic induced lavatory shortage necessitated the organisers of Glastonbury to take a well-earned breather in 2012, so a Velothon Wales induced access deficiency has necessitated a comic lacuna here in the village.
Fear not, in 2018 we fully expect the competition to return in a new and expanded format that takes into account the many expressions of interest we’ve received from over the border and elsewhere.
The undoubted success of the last five years owes a considerable debt to the inventiveness of our extremely courageous competitors. Likewise our esteemed judges and our wonderfully receptive audiences all of whom in their own way have contributed to making the first Sunday of the Festival a hitherto essential date for the diary.
Wales Comic Verse should also like to thank Benito and his colleagues at The Priory Hotel for their courteous hospitality in hosting the event, past sponsors Tiny Rebel and S. A. Brain and in particular, former “Newport Town Poet,” Goff Morgan, whose initial musings on the matter gave rise to much merriment.
Wales Comic Verse very much looks forward to welcoming you all back next year.
